Almond Bars
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (unsifted)
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour (unsifted)
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange rind
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup whole blanched almonds
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate bits
  1. Cream butter with 1/2 cup brown sugar until soft; beat in oats, flours, wheat germ and orange rind.
  2. Pat into 9 inch square pan.
  3. Then mix 3eggs, almonds, raisins, coconut, chocolate bits and 1/4 cup born sugar (packed).
  4. Pour over base and spread out evenly.
  5. bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until almonds are golden brown.
  6. Cool and cut into a dozen bars.
  7. Wrap in aluminum foil.
