Put in skillet and fry
until black around edges. Gypsy-J
"I always liked a couple of slices on white bread with a
slice of good garden tomato." G. Cooper
"The only time I use SPAM is when I go backpacking or camping: I simply chop up SPAM and mix it in
with scrambled eggs. Nothing elaborate. However, I love fried SPAM
and I would love a SPAM-pasta recipe!!"J. Romines
"Believe it or not, diced Spam goes very well in potato salad." J. Combs
"Take the Spam loaf and make cuts in it crosswise but dont cut it all the way
through.... mix up some brown sugar, ketchup and little chopped up onions and
baste the Spam then bake it in a 350deg oven for about 1/2hr.. just enough to heat it up really good and get the sauce all melty in it.
Serve it with fried potatoes and you've got a quick "baked ham-like" dinner :-)" J. Adkins
"Well bout the only way I do SPAM is to slice it
about the thickness of two slices of po' man's ham
(bologna) and then fry it up in an iron skillet... that
part is imporant so you can get the crispies on it. Then
put 2-3 slices on Light toasted white bread with mustard.
Makes a great sam'ich!!" R. Meadows
"I don't have any sort of proportions on this, so it's tricky.
Best made with smoked spam, regular will do in a pinch....whiz
the stuff up in a food processor, or if you don't have one, just
mash the living daylights out of it. Add about a half teaspoon of
horseradish, then enough mustard to make decent spreading consistency.
Voila! You have now got some poor man's pate.....(pah-tay, hard to
tell with no accent to put on the e)" piglet
"OK - Spam - my mother used to slice it in strips and fry it for
supper. For a fast meal, you can cut it in cubes, mix with Kraft
dinner and maybe some vegies or green pepper - maybe not so good for
you, but pretty yummy! " Judy Tart
"...mix mustard, brown sugar, and a little homemade sweet pickle
juice (NOT bread and butter pickles!), until you are pleased with the
flavor, and smear liberally on SLICED Spam. Run the whole thing into
the oven for a few, letting the mustard/sugar/pickle juice get good
and bubbly and the edges of the Spam get just a little crispy, and
enjoy!" Sally
" My favorite way to have it was diced up, fried and gravy made on
it. That with some of my moms great homemade biscuits was a breakfast made in
heaven! We used homemade biscuits because we couldnt afford the canned ones
from the store." Tim
"When I was a kid, I remember my mom putting cloves all over a Spam
and baking it in the oven like it was a Sunday ham, and putting brown
sugar glaze over top of it as well. I can take spam once in a while;
I'd probably eat more of it, only my daughter is into this no red meat
kick, and has been for over a year. She's grown gills and now clucks." Moe
"Six days after Germany surrendered in WWII I was on a troop
ship that carried occupation forces down the Elbe River to Bremerhaven.
On the second night I was the only person on board. The galley was
closed. I rummanged around and found one potato and a can of Army issue
Spam (olive drab can). I cubed the Spam and the potato and fried them
together in lard. It remains one of the most memorable meals I had
during the war." Bill Kentuckian living in Albuquerque
"Here's another use of Spam. Combine 2 cans Pork & Beans, some brown sugar,
finely minced onion, squirt of mustard, Ketchup (to your taste), and small
cubes of Spam together...spread evenly in a baking dish...cover with strips
of bacon...and bake at 400 degrees until bacon is done (I fry my bacon on
one side before placing it over the beans...it cuts down on baking time).
This goes well with lettuce and tomato salad and hot rolls with butter.
(Cut lettuce and tomatoes in small pieces, mix with mayonnaise, salt, and
pepper...chill in refrig until beans are ready...stir before serving)
*Sliced weiners can be substituted for Spam." R. Gibson
"More spam is sold in Hawaii than any other state. Here, we make what is
called "spam musubi" '

we had spam alot, NEVER anyway but fried, fried, fried...I still eat it on
occasion but I can't get the family to eventry it. I like to mix it in

"AT LAST!! Some one mentioned fried spam. I think I had it once or twice
a long time ago. Wasn't that bad If what I am remembering was Spam.
Also I am surpirsed no one else has written about Spam. I see it in every
grocery store, so some one must be eating it."
Richard M
It can't be any easier than this!! Just slice the spam into 1/4 inch
slices, then dip each into a well-beaten egg. Then, dip the slice
into a dish of dried bread crumbs (seasoned or plain) Next in a oiled,
or buttered frypan, let them fry to a nice golden color... Enjoy as
your main meat for your meal, or a nice sandwich on a fresh hard roll...

These were one of my Dad's favorite quick meal. Try them and see what
you think. Mae
Spam Sandwiches
This is one of my favorite sandwiches & I only have it ONCE a year at my mom's house for my daughter's birthday parties.
Grind the following in a meat chopper or mix in a food processor:
Spam
Velveeta Cheese
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Spread the mixture on halved hamburger buns & put under the broiler until dark on the edges & bubbly in the middle.
Gooey & delicious! Other than this recipe I do not eat Spam - ever!

"....Fried Spam should rate right up there (not too close
though) with "Nabs"! Can't really remember when we started eat'in it
but I knew it wasn't soup beans and that made it good!
Some friends
and I go hunting together for a week every year. We always have the
usual steaks and manage to go fish'in and get fresh shrimp and "Red
Fish" and eat like kings (camp'in out style). Our final meal though
for the last six years has been fried spam (American Cheese added and
melted) on white bread with lots of Miracle Whip and Mustard! I have
converted my doubting Thomas son (wife and daughter still won't touch
it) to the point that I have to darn near fight him for it! Anyhow,
it may not be steak, but when the taste buds says it's time, it may as
well be! (Want to add a little flavor? Throw a couple of strips of
bacon in the skillet first and then fry your Spam! (Lord, hold me
back) Imma, Piglet, you too Gypsy and Leamon (Richard you can sneak
on over too) break out the tea, it's time to ('scuse the term Piglet)
PIG OUT!!!! Best Regards to all......(and thanks to Tim for the
memories!) "

pungent odor of mystery meat, and marvell'in on the wonders all that

Spam Pasta Recipe
Boil egg noodles ( I prefer the thin variety verses the wide but it doesnt matter),
cook as directed, drain. Dice up a can of spam. Add spam to the noodles.
Also add a large can of cream of mushroom soup and a cup of cream.
Mix it all together, put in a casserole dish and sprinkle with crushed potato chips.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes (just to heat through)
I use a full 16oz bag of noodles. But I have 6 kids so there are no left overs! I hope you will enjoy this recipe as much as we have.
