Combine potatoes and milk and cook in saucepan over low
heat on top of range for 15 to 20 minutes, taking care not to
let milk scorch.
Place a layer of potatoes in greased baking
dish.
Sprinkle with flour, salt and pepper.
Repeat until all
potatoes are used.
Pour any remaining milk over potatoes and
dot with butter.
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or
until potatoes are tender.
Remove cover and bake 10 minutes
longer.
If potatoes are not browned on top, place dish under
broiler until desired browness.
For au gratin, add grated cheese to
layers and top.
