Corn Bread
From:Betty Jo Melton Coldiron
  • 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup meal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

  • Add enough butter milk so batter isn't too thick.
  • Bacon grease size of egg (about 2 tablespoons)
  1. Melt bacon grease in skillet, when hot pour into mixture.
  2. Mix well, pour into skillet.
  3. Bake at 450 degrees until brown, about 20 minutes.

Mother never measured anything for corn bread and Connie stood by her and got this recipe by measuring the ingredients as mother put them in.
