My husband grew up in Marion County, West Virginia and I made my first venture
to his favorite hot dog establishment (Yann's) several months after we started keeping
company with each other. Swore he tried to kill me. You see, I've learned that
West Virginia Hot Dogs are, well ..... they are HOT!
I've also learned that West Virginians are quite partial to their "dogs" - the
hub won't eat any other kind - declares them to be "bland" & just plain "no good"
I've tried to duplicate the killer "WV" sauce, but never had any luck until I ran across
a native West Virginian in an "Appalachian" chat group who had eaten many a dog from
Yann's and Lupo's. She'd developed what she considered to be the closest thing to the authentic West Virginia Hot Dog sauce recipe and she agreed to share it with me.
