Texas Chocolate Cake
    Mix together and set aside:

  • 2 cups sugar and 2 cups flour

    In sauce pan, combine:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 teaspoons cocoa
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup water
  • Bring to a boil, pour over sugar and flour mixture.
  • Blend well.

    Then add:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Stir all together and pour into greased 9x13 pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.

    Icing:

    Bring to a boil:

  • 1 stick butter & 6 Tablespoons milk.

    Remove from heat and add

  • 4 teaspoons cocoa
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Beat until smooth and add 1 can coconut & 1 cup nuts.
  • Spread on cake while hot.
