Hickory Nut Pie
From: Gypsy....." (I Knoooow this one is Appie!!!)"
  • 1 C. syrup
  • 3/4 C. chopped hickory nuts
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  1. Place hickory nuts in unbaked pie shell.
  2. Mix syrup, sugar, and eggs together well.
  3. Add melted butter and vanilla.
  4. Pour mixture over nuts.
  5. Place in preheated 400 degree oven,
  6. bake 10 min., reduce heat to 300 degrees and bake 30 min. more.
(Note: It is important to reduce heat as instructed after 10 minutes) You could substitute pecans, walnuts, etc. for the hickory nuts.
