From: Gaylord...from his mother and grandmother's collection
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
2 Teaspoon baking powder
1 Teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cold shortening
1 cup cold buttermilk
sift all dry ingredients together.
With two knives blend in the cold shortening.
add milk and mix quickly.
Knead for a few minutes and then pat out (or roll out) to 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut out biscuits with biscuit cutter (or potted meat can)
place in pan close together for crust on top and bottom.
Bake at once in 450 degree oven.
