Gum Drop Cookies




  1. Sift and measure flour
  2. add baking powder and salt
  3. Cream shortening
  4. add sugar gradually and continue creaming.
  5. Add well-beaten egg and beat until fluffy.
  6. Stir in vanilla.
  7. Add four mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
  8. Add gum drops and drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  9. Stick 4 almond halves in top of each cookie.
  10. Bake in a moderately hot over (400 degrees F.) for about 10 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned.
  11. Removed immediately to cake rack.
