Candy Cane Cookies




  1. Mix well soft butter, sugar, milk, vanilla and peppermint extract, plus egg yolk.
  2. Mix flour and baking powder; add to mixture.
  3. Separate dough in 2 equal parts.
  4. Add red food coloring in 1 part; refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Take 1 teaspoon of each color and roll separately, about 3-inches long, then very gently twist together to make candy cane shape.
  6. Beat egg white and brush top of each cookie and bake on ungreased sheet at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle crushed candy on top of each cookie; let cool.
