Peppermint Puffs




  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Place sheets of foil on counter top for cooling cookies.
  3. Combine brown sugar, 3/4 cup shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl.
  4. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
  5. Beat egg into creamed mixture
  6. Combine flour, salt and baking soda.
  7. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended.
  8. Stir in crushed candy.
  9. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  10. Place 2 inches apart on un-greased baking sheet.
  11. Bake 1 baking sheet at a time at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minute for crisp cookies. Do not over bake.
  12. Cool 21 minutes on baking sheet
  13. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely.

    Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
