Out to Freeze Orka
  • Cut tender pods of okra from stalk.
  • Wash okra and dry.
  • Put pods of okra whole into your bags and freeze.
  • To Cook Frozen Okra:
    1. Take okra from the freezer.
    2. Wash ice from okra (don't thaw).
    3. Cut okra partly frozen in round pieces.
    4. Salt to taste.
    5. Pour about 1/4 cup buttermilk over okra and wet it good.
    6. Pour off remaining milk.
    7. Put about 1/2 cup flour on wet okra and coat it good.
    8. It will be sticky and look nasty.
    9. Put about 1/3 cup meal on floured okra.
    10. Roll until meal sticks to okra.
    11. Drop okra in hot oil and fry.
    12. Don't crowd okra - it will come out in small pieces.
