Vinegar Dumplings
From: Jacqueline Coldiron
Syrup
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup water
  1. Mix all the above together and bring to a boil.
  2. Drop dumplings into mixture and boil about 15 minutes or until syrup is thick.
Dumplings
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons margarine
  • 6 Tablespoons milk
  1. Mix all together, like you would for biscuits.
  2. Roll out into small rounds 1/2 inch thick and drop in vinegar syrup.

I admit I only made these one time and that was for Becky's late husband James A. Grigsby, he just loved them and talked about them all the time, when I found a recipe I made them and he said they were just like he remembered.
